How to Take a Long-Haul Flight - And Land Looking Totally Refreshed

Even for the most well-seasoned travellers, heading away on an overseas flight, can be quite the undertaking and often comes with the perils of dry, dehydrated and uncomfortable skin. You just feel sluggish.. are we right!? But with a little bit of prep, relaxing and resetting whilst in-flight is possible.

From inside out skin health to amping up hydration, we have compiled our tips for maintaining healthy, glowing skin and landing looking – and feeling – totally refreshed!

Get an advanced facial before you fly

If maintaining your skin’s glow is top of mind, getting a professional facial like the O Cosmedics Oxygenating Peel will help your skin stay hydrated and plump throughout the flight. Be sure to book it in a couple of days before your trip in order to oxygenate your skin and cleanse your pores.

On the day of your departure, cleanse your face with a gentle milky cleanser like the Ginger&me AHA Milk Gel cleanser, then layer on a hydrating serum to support the skin’s barrier and protect it from environmental damage, before sealing everything in with a rich moisturiser.

Watch What You Eat - Before You Board

Alcohol and caffeine intake can disrupt the quality of your sleep, so be mindful of this prior to your flight. Try to eat complex carbs and protein beforehand to help with increasing sleepiness such as whole wheat crackers, oats, bananas and Greek yoghurt.

For take-off, try chewing on Kiki Health Fruit gummies, a delicious way to get the vitamins and minerals you need and for sleep , spray a spritz (or two) of their Magnesium Spray on the bottom of your feet to help you relax as you drift off.

Fly fresh-faced

To allow your skin to breath, arrive on the flight with little to no makeup. If you are travelling long haul and plan to sleep and are wearing makeup, ensure to cleanse it off before sleep.

Remove makeup with a cleanser, micellar water then apply a hydrating serum like O Cosmedics Hyaluronic Serum, to draw moisture into the skin and keep you hydrated. Also apply their Hydra-Plus Sleep In Mask and leave on as a facial and beauty sleep booster.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Staying hydrated is so important. You should be drinking approximately a cup of water every hour while in the air to prevent dehydration. Keep yourself and skin hydrated by avoiding alcohol, sugar and caffeine.

Try instead, mixing a teaspoon Kiki Health Alkaline Infusion into your still or sparkling water for a delicious citrus blend that will ward off free radicals and combat exhaustion. Always bring an empty water bottle onto the plane and get this filled up before regularly drinking throughout the flight.

Gua Sha on arrival

Lift, plump, firm, tone, rejuvenate, clear, and detoxify the skin on arrival. O-REJUV by O Cosmedics is a multifunctional compact device which combines thermal massage, low-level EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) technology and red and blue LED therapy to stimulate the skin’s micro-circulation and oxygenate for healthier blood flow and nutrient delivery resulting in glowing, toned, healthy skin read for a relaxing holiday!
